What is the difference between a makemyroom media centre and a media wall?
 

 At makemyroom we offer media walls that span wall to wall and floor to ceiling and media centres that are generally a stand alone beautiful piece of furniture to house your T.V and Fire.

 

We offer two options with both a media centre and wall- plastered finish or wood.

Wood Finish...

We construct using wood. These panels are affixed to a frame. It means we can offer a more accurate stable structure. Many of our units have drawers and cupboards in them so its important to keep things nice and square. We also paint and build the product in the workshop so no waiting for plaster to dry meaning less mess and time on the job. Our media walls/centres offer the flexibility to easily upgrade your fire or TV for lareger ones- Just call us back and we can assist you in this for a small fee. A makemyroom media centre also gives you the freedom to move your media wall if you want to change the layout of your room! Its simple fixings allow us to easily help you change your room around- or you could even sell it when you upgrade to a bigger one!

Plastered Finish...

Some homes or designs may work better if completed in plaster. This offers a smooth finish and a more muted look. A frame will be built and then plasterboard applied. It will then be plastered- you will need to leave this to dry for roughly two weeks before painting and decorating.

How far do you travel to fit media walls?
 

     We will travel all over the UK! There may be a small fee for this but worth it for a makemyroom media wall!

How much do you charge for fitting?

​

Fitting is on survey of your home and size of media wall.

​

​

What colour does it come in?

​

  Almost any colour you wish! During your free consultation I will bring some colour charts for you to look at incase you havent already made up your mind.

Can I paint it myself?

​

Yes of course. We can supply the media wall primed ready for you to paint yourself.

I already have a chimney breast in my house, can I still have a media wall built?

​

Yes- we simply fit your new media wall around this.

​

​

I have just moved into a new build property with no focal point but space is tight. Will the media wall take up too much space?

Absoloutly not! We can design and make your media wall to fit your space. Infact our Media Centres are perfect for new build homes that lack a focul point.

Do you provide the fire?

​

 We can or you can provide it yourself. If you need help choosing a fire we have our own personal reccommendations you could choose from that range in price and size.

How long does it take to install?

​

  This depends on which media wall/centre you have chosen and size. Generally smaller units will be completed in a couple of days.

If you have chosen to have your media wall/centre plastered this will take longer as you have to allow two weeks for the plaster to dry before painting.

Does my room need to be completely empty when you come to fit?

​

 We understand this is not always possible so we can work around your home. This is actually a great reason to choose a makemyroom media centre as we come with minimal mess as we build off site.

​

What if I want to change the colour of my media wall in a year or two?
 

Our media walls can be easily re-painted. We could of course do it for you.

 

​

​

Is there any additional maintenance required once installed?

​

Generally no other than a wipe down with a damp cloth.
